At the Government
Website of Abdón Calderón are the symbols of Abdón Calderón, also named
La Unión, in Azuay. The flag was designed by Luis Carpio. It is a horizonal bicolor of green over white. Green is for the productivity of the
parish and white is for peace, moral values, and ethics of the people.

The coat of arms is bordered by sugarcane leaves. Three sugarcane bundles are at its base,
above this being the name and motto, "Union and Progress". A cogwheel is depicted, being a principal
item of the sugarcane mills in the area. In the background is the river Llaushari, which waters the
vast and fruitful lands of the parish. Three prominent hills are also shown, with the sky showing a
typically colorful sunset in the hot valley. Beside the shield exists four flags of the parish.
The coat of arms is a reflection of the people, honorable and hard-working. Coat of arms designed by Esteban Machuca C.
