Horizontally divided blue-green-blue with two equilateral triangles at the hoist white and brown with a yellow star in each; in the centre a sun wrapped in green-yellow-blue ribbons and overlain by a bow and two arrows.
The flag is official since October 3, 2008. It is made up of a rectangular cloth on the left side of which two triangles stand out. The triangle above, light beige in color, represents the sands of Morrocoy National Park; the one below, darker, the sands of continental beaches. Within each triangle, a yellow star represents the parishes of the municipality.
The right side is made up of three horizontal stripes. The upper one, blue,
symbolizes the sky. The middle, wider and green, represents the earth and its
vegetation; in its center, a yellow sun - symbol of the capital Tucacas -
contains a bow and two arrows, a tribute to the Carib Indians. A ribbon hugs the
sun with the inscription "Puerto Flechado 1499" (first battle between the
American Indians and the Spanish conquerors). The lower strip, also blue,
represents the waters of rivers, lagoons and seas.
