No flag

Boy Scouts, organizing their mammoth Jamboree which will take place June 8-10 at the Tooele County Deseret Peak Recreation Complex, are inviting towns in the Great Salt Lake Council to provide a flag to fly for the duration of the event. But Stockton has no flag. Mayor Thomas suggested using a silk screening pattern first drawn for Stockton Days T-shirts. The pattern employs the town logo - "First Mining Town in Utah, Founded 1863" and a drawing of a forested mountain and old mine entrance. Perhaps, someone suggested, town flags could be sold to residents to fly or hang at home. Or, someone else offered, selling the flags could be a fund raiser for the fire department to buy protective suits. "It would be kind of fun to have a town flag," said Mayor Thomas, smiling.
