City flag votes sought
Beginning today (27 January) and continuing through Thursday, Feb. 11, the public is being asked to vote on one of two designs for a new city flag, which will be created once the local vote is tallied.
There are two designs.
One is a horizontal design.
The other is a vertical design.
At last Thursday’s regular meeting of the Seymour Board of Aldermen, the two flag designs were unveiled in a proposal presented by North Ward Alderman William Pogue and South Ward Alderman Dan Wehmer.

The ballots are in. And there’s a winner.
The horizontal flag. It’s shown in the image above. In polling conducted online
via Facebook and through ballots at Seymour City Hall, the horizontal design of
the city of Seymour’s new flag was the overwhelming winner, earning 86 percent
of 344 votes cast. Results of the voting were shared with the Seymour Board of
Aldermen at the group’s regular meeting last Thursday by Terry Penner, the
city’s community-development director.
Mayor Richard Vinson called for a
vote, and the horizontal version of the flag was approved 4-0 as the new
official flag for the city. City Administrator Hillary Gintz will begin the
process of ordering the flags this week. City flags will be placed on all of the
city’s flagpoles once they arrive.
