South Elgin, Kane County, Illinois, has an official flag. It is about 3' by 5', and the field colors are all solid. Local historian E.C. Alft, writing in 1979, noted: "Designed by Robert W. Claunch, it was chosen winner in a contest
sponsored by the patriotic committee of the South Elgin Bicentennial Commission in 1976. The blue in the color scheme represents the Fox River; the white band with the words, "South Elgin", is the bridge linking east and west sides; and the gold stars honor the community's veterans of six major wars".
