Although the City Clerk stated in a 2018 email that Berwyn does not have an
official flag due to an unsuccessful contest for a new flag in 2012, the flag
that became official with the 1972 contest is being used by the city. Therefore,
unless the 1972 flag was made unofficial owing to the 2012 contest, it is still
the official city flag.

The flag contest was held in 2012 but failed (https://www.berwyn-il.gov).
When I asked about the contest, I was told by the city clerk that Berwyn does
not have an official flag.

The Berwyn Historical Society's FB page posts a photo of a flag from 1972
which, according to the PDF file above, "was designed by Paul Renfus, an eighth
grader at St. Odilo School, who won first place in a city-wide contest." The
purpose of 2012 contest was to design "a new city flag."
