Description of the flag

Lake Los Angeles is an rural unincorporated community and census-designated places located in Los Angeles county as part of and east of the the Lancaster-Palmdale Urban Area. It's located in the Antelope Valley of the Los Angeles County portion, north of the San Gabriel Mountains. The community, although unincorporated is run by a town council, which is one of many communities with state-sanctioned local government districts, collectively known as special districts.

The flag was unveiled on April 14, 2025 in conjunction with swearing of the new town council, whom were also the flag's designers.

"Mackey then introduced the community’s official flag. Carrillo helped sanction the flag for the community. “This flag was created and designed by your new town council,” she said.

The light blue flag features a round Lake Los Angeles emblem in the center with a black and white clapperboard, or slate, and a movie camera to acknowledge the area’s long tradition of serving as a setting for Hollywood movies in the top left corner.

“We have hundreds of movies that are shot right here in Lake Los Angeles,” she said. “We are known for our beautiful scenery and our movie industry for they come out with the productions out here.” The top right corner features a steer skull with feathers hanging from the horns to represent the area’s indigenous heritage. The bottom portion features a desert scene with a earing horse and Joshua tree. “This bottom part represents our Joshua trees, all our tumbleweeds and blue sunsets and sunrises,” she said. The 13 stars surrounding them emblem represent the 13,000 residents in the community. The emblem has “Lake Los Angeles, California. Est. 1967” around the images. A dark blue strip stretches horizontally across the flag to represent the lake that once existed in the community. A tan stripe beneath the blue stripe represents the soil of the community."
