San Salvador Centro's government was instated on May 1, 2024. Its districts
are Ayutuxtepeque, Mejicanos, Cuscatancingo, Ciudad Delgado, and San Salvador.
Its symbols were adopted on the same day. The capital of San Salvador Centro is
the district of San Salvador, which appears to have the same government.

The flag's design consists of a dark blue field with the coat of arms
centered on it in a white circle. The coat of arms, minted in silver, is a
symbol of the purity, faith and integrity of San Salvador Centro. It carries a
diagonal national flag without its coat of arms. White and blue symbolize
loyalty, protection, and obligation to servicing the people. Two swords converge
on its sides: the one on the right of General Francisco Morazán and the one on
the left of Captain General Gerardo Barrios; both are inserted into a ribbon.
The twelve laurels are for the twelve zones within the commune, while the five
stars are the five districts. Indoor versions of the flag use a gray fringe.
This flag is clearly based on the coat of arms of San Salvador adopted during
the tenure of President Nayib Bukele as San Salvador's mayor in 2015.
