According to the constitution of 1926
(article 119) on the flag the name (YASSR) was only in Yakut and until 1939
Yakut language used Latin script. I located on the web the drawing of flag that
had text “SAQA”, but I changed it to SASSO in line with the constitution. Please
see Yakut book cover of 1931, where
there is special character for R (it is interesting that, on the book cover of
1925 the name of YASSR was abbreviated as 3ASSX). It seems that the Yakut
language at that point didn’t use a Russian script.

At http://www.nlib.sakha.ru/Exhibit/CPI/2003/5_2.shtml you can find
actual images of the Yakutian ASSR 1937 and 1978 flag and coat of arms (click
to enlarge). Date of Decree of 1978 (June 27) differs from the same
provided by Sokolov (October 27) in [soL02b]"Veksillologicheskiy
spravochik...", Moscow 2002, Tome 1, page 642.

9 Mar 1937 – 1939 flag Changed to Russian script in 1939. It is interesting that
according to constitution of 1937 the name of ASSR on the flag was only in
Yakut. Until 1939 Yakuts lacked letter F, so RSFSR was RSPSR (please see Yakut
arms of 1938).
