Presentation of Selnica ob Dravi

The municipality of Selnica op Dravi seceded from Ruše in 1998.

Municipal flag of Selnica ob Dravi

The flag of Selnica op Dravi is prescribed by amended Decision Odlok o spremembah in dopolnitvah odloka o zastavi Občine Selnica ob Dravi, adopted on 29 June 2004 and published on 10 July 2004 in the official local gazette Medobčinski uradni vestnik štajerske in Koroške regije, 18/2004.
The amendment changed the proportions of the flag from 1:3 to 1:2 for both the horizontal and vertical versions of the flag.

The flag is rectangular, in proportions 1:2, horizontally divided white-green with the municipal coat of arms set in the white stripe near the hoist.

The coat of arms of Selnica ob Dravi is prescribed by Decision Odlok o grbu občine Selnica ob Dravi ter o njegovi uporabi, adopted on 22 July 1999 and published in the official local gazette Medobčinski uradni vestnik štajerske in Koroške regije, 30/1999, pp. 747-748.

The coat of arms pictures an apple surrounded by a crozier issuing from water surmounted with a fir tree.
The symbolic is explained as follows: green for the Koban hills, forests and pastures, the crozier for the synthesis of past and present, while its lower end recalls the belfry of St. Marietta. The four rings on the crozier are for the unity of the villages in the municipality and the apple stands for the orchards. The fir tree stands for the woodwork tradition and the water stands for the oldest hydroelectric power plant on the river Drava.
