Flag of Slovenj Gradec, vertical and horizontal (unconfirmed) versions - Images by Željko Heimer, 27 May 2006

The flag and the coat of arms of Slovenj Gradec are prescribed by Decision Odlok o grbu, zastavi in pecatu občine in mesta Slovenj Gradec, adopted on 25 July 1991 and published in the official Slovene gazette Uradni list Republike Slovenije, No. 8, 8 August 1991, pp. 345-7, with effect on 15 August 1991.
The flag is described in the Decision as white, with a blue stripe
along each of the longer edges of the flag, and with the coat of arms
in the middle. Unfortunately neither the overall proportions, nor relative
sizes of elements and position of the coat of arms are determined by
the text, and it is only provided that "the construction sheet that
pictures" things mentioned above "is integral part of this Decision". It is not explicitely stated if the flag should be hoist horizontally, vertically, or both.
Stanič & Jakopič [j2s05] show only the vertical version of the flag, with the white stripe twice wider than the blue ones and the coat of arms almost touching the blue stripes.

Coat of arms of Slovenj Gradec - Image by Željko Heimer, 27 May 2006
The coat of arms of Slovenj Gradec can be blazoned as "Azure, a city entrance with two watch towers argent grailed
(if that is the word to describe the "chequy masonry" pattern)
sable".
It is based on a seal of the town from the early 14th century.
