Description

About the flag

The county is situated in north Småland and has gotten its name from the county capital, Jönköping. The flag is a banner of the arms, and consists of the arms of Jönköping and above this a chief with the three yellow crowns on blue from the Swedish state arms. The arms were granted on 12 June 1942, based on earlier use of arms (not granted) where the upper blue field took up half the shield and with the crowns placed two above one - the new design was considered more appealing.
