I am researching a bronze seal that apparently was used on official letters in the province of Dalecarlia in the 1400's. It has an axe and a bow in the centre circle with small vines with 3 leaved bunches on the sides and writing in Swedish around the edges. I read on one of your sites that the flag with the arrows and crown was adapted from a seal in the 1500's. Would you happen to know anything about the seal I have sent a photo of?

I don't know much more about this than what is already said, but I will send the question on to my Scandinavian heraldry friends. The text is in Latin and gives the text "Seal of Dala [i.e. Dalecarlia] in the year of Our Lord" and the year 1435 in Roman numerals.
