Part II, section 4(2) of the Solomon Islands Merchant Shipping Act of 1998 (NO. 5 of 1998), 30 April 1998, assented to in September 1998, provides as follows:

The National Flag of the Solomon Islands shall be the proper national colours for a vessel registered under this Act.
No provisions for any special ensigns, or any other ensigns by warrant.
James Liston, 26 May 2016The source for my image was indeed the 2000 French Navy Album (Album des Pavillons 2000), and the same is also given in the 2002 Corr. 2 to it. The 1995 Album had only the national flag with a note of existence of red, blue and white ensigns. The red ensign is shown in the 2006 Shipmate Flagchart and many other sources.

That said, it may certainly be that the individual ensigns were used initially after the adoption of the current national flag (1977) and the mentioned shipping act then legally abolished them.
