It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain white field.

Coat of Arms

Shield Gules four windmill vanes Argent connected in saltire, flanked by two wheat sheaves Or, on chief a goshawk Or holding an inescutcheon Azure charged with five plates in quincunx by his claws. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "ALMAGREIRA – VILA DO PORTO".
Meaning:
The goshawk (Portuguese: açor) is symbol and name giver of the archipelago, often displayed, as also here, with the oldest arms of Portugal, the so called "quina". Vanes and sheaves stand for the production of cereals and flour.

Almagreira is one of the five communes of Vila do Porto Municipality; it had 616 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 10,58 km².
