It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain green field.

Shield Argent, a throughout embattled wall Gules masoned Sable between a serpent Vert tongued Gules and lancinated by a spear bendy Sable in chief and two haycocks Gules ordered per fess in base. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "SAPARDOS".
Meaning:
The lancinated serpent might be an attribute of Archangel St. Michael, the local patron saint.
