Meaning:
The tower is taken from the arms of former Sta. Maria commune, the armillary sphere from the arms of former Sta. Leocádia commune, boat, punt and base wavy from the arms of former Moreira commune and the haystack from the arms of former Deão commune.

Geraz do Lima had been a municipality, which was dissolved during the reforms of Mouzinho Silveira at the beginning of the 19th century. It consisted of those communes nowadays forming the united commune. It had 1644 inhabitants in 1801.
