Meaning:
The Portuguese word ´lousa´ means ´slate´ and therefore these arms are partly canting.

Lousa was one of the nine communes of Moncorvo Municipality not affected by the 2013 changes ; it had 287 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 34,97 km².
