Shield Or, two sheep affronty Azure garnished Argent between a cross potent Gules superimposed by a Greek crosslet Argent in chief and a coronet Gules in base. Mural crown with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black initials: "ACHETE - SANTARÉM".
Meaning:
The cruz is symbolizing the former local commandary of the Order of Christ. The coronet is reminding on King Fernando I, who rested in the place. The sheep probably are alluding to the proper name of the commune and are thus canting. Draft designed by José Bènard Guedes.

Meaning:
Book and pen are reminding on the famous novelist and historian Alexandre Herculano. The tree is alluding to the local cultivation of olives. Draft designed by Diácria Editora Company.
