It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a quartered green and white field.

The arms are Argent three maize husk flowers Vert set in fess and between an iris Vert with three flowers Purpure in chief and a cow Sable spotted Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "SALGA - NORDESTE".

Salga Commune is one of the nine communes of Nordeste Municipality ; it had 488 inhabitants in 2011 and covers 7.7 km².
