It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain green field.

Shield Or, in base an olive tree Or leaved Vert and fruited Or, in central chief a cross Gules of the Order of St. James, in dexter chief a bunch of three corn cobs Or leaved Vert tied Gules, in sinister chief a bunch of three wheat ears Or stemmed Vert tied Gules. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black capitals: "PEGÕES".
Meaning:
The region belonged to the Order of St. James, represented by its cross. The other elements are stressing the importance of agriculture.

Pegões (proper) Commune was one of the pre-2013 communes of Montijo Municipality (q.v.); it had 2360 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 24.3 km².

Shield Argent, in base a plough Sable bladed Or, in central chief a cross Gules of the Order of St. James, flanked by two grapevines Purpure leaved Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black capitals: "SANTO ISIDRO DE PEGÕES".
Meaning:
The region belonged to the Order of St. James, represented by its cross. The grapevines are symbolizing the rural character, especially viticulture. The plough also is symbolizing agriculture. It is also an attribute of St. Isidor, the local patron saint.
