It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain blue field.

Shield Argent with base wavy of Vert and Argent, an embattled tower Azure masoned Argent with port and windows of Sable and Or, flanked by six foof tiles Gules ordered paly 3:3. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "SANTA BÁRBARA - LOURINHÃ".
Meaning:
The tower is an attribute of Sta. Barbara, the local patron saint. The roof tiles are symbolizing the local ceramics industry. The base wavy is referring to the Atlantic.
