Janeiro de Cima was one of the 13 communes of Fundão Municipality affected by the 2013 changes. It had 306 inhabitants in 2011 and covered 11,93 km².

Meaning:
The cyprinids, a little kind of carps, (Port.: bogas) are canting elements.
