Coat of Arms

Shield Azure a shrimp-catcher Argent, flanked on base by a heraldic fountain, on dexter flanch by a rose Or seeded Gules and barbed Argent, and on sinister flanch by a windmill wheel Argent with vanes Or. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and celestial blue scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "UNIÃO DAS FREGUESIAS DE CALDAS DA RAINHA — NOSSA SENHORA DO PÓPULO, COTO E SÃO GREGÓRIO".
Meaning:
The shrimp-catcher is taken from the arms of Queen Eleonora and is also a charge on the municipal arms. It is furthermore representing the former communes of Coto and Nossa Senhora do Pópulo. The rose is another element taken from the arms Coto, the fountain an element taken from the arms of Nossa Senhora do Pópulo. The wheel is representing the former São Gregório Commune.

Caldas da Rainha - Nossa Senhora do Pópulo, Coto e São Gregório is one of the three communes of Caldas da Rainha Municipality created by a merger during the 2013 changes. It had 18 540 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 31,69 km².

Coat of Arms

Shield Azure, a shrimp-catcher Argent between three heraldic fountains, two in flanks and one in base. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "CALDAS DA RAINHA - NOSSA SENHORA DO PÓPULO".
Meaning:
The shrimp-catcher, an unusual implement, is the personal emblem of Queen Eleonora (1481-1495), in these arms it refers to the queen, important patron of the municipality seat and probably also relevant in the communal history.

Shield Gules on a bar wavy Argent a barrulet wavy Azure, in dexter chief a rose Or barbed Vert and seeded Gules, in sinister chief a crescent recumbent Argent, in base a shrimp-catcher Or. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case letters "COTO — CALDAS DA RAINHA"
Meaning:
The rose is an attribute of St. Mary, being the local patron saint as Our Lady of the Angels. The shrimpcatcher, an unusual implement, is the personal emblem of Queen Eleonora (1481-1495), in these arms it refers to the queen, important patron of the municipality seat and probably also relevant in the communal history. "Coto" means "stump" in Portuguese, though tihis might not be the etymology of the toponym at hand. Either way, the arms are not canting of this meaning.

Shield Or, a windmill wheel Azure, in chief an open book Argent bound Gules and superimposed by a pen Purpure in bend sinister, in base alongside the orle two branches of apple tree Vert fruited Gules. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black initials: "SÃO GREGÓRIO - CALDAS DA RAINHA"
Meaning:
Book and pen are attributes of St. Gregory, the local patron saint. Before he became Pope Gregory II in 715, he had been the librarian of one his predecessors, Pope Sergius I, who died in 701.
