Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and long white scroll reading, as used for united communes,
in black upper case serifed letters "UNIÃO DAS FREGUESIAS DE RERIZ E GAFANHÃO".
Meaning:
The charges are taken from the arms of both predecessors, the crown from those of Gafanhão and the basket from those of Reriz.
The sheaves seem to be a modification of the ears on the arms of Reriz.

Reriz e Gafanhão is one of the five communes of Castro Daire Municipality created by a merger during the 2013 changes. It had 724 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 22,62 km².

Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "RERIZ".
Meaning:
The coat is an attribute of St. Martin, the local patron saint. The basket stands for agriculture.

Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and short white scroll, in Bénard Guedes style,
reading in black upper case serifed letters "GAFANHÃO".
Meaning:
The crown is an attribute of St. Mary, being the local patron saint as Our Lady of Sorrows.
Ears and wheel are symbolising the importance of wheat, cultivated and afterwards processed by the former watermills alongside the Paiva River.
