About the Flag

It is a typical Portuguese communal flag, with the coat of arms centred on a plain green field.

Shield Or, a scallop Gules flanked by two embowed rye ears Vert tied Gules, issuant from base an embattled wall Sable masoned Argent with port Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "CARAPEÇOS".
Meaning:
The scallop is an attribute of St. James the Elder, the local patron saint. The rye ears are symbolizing agriculture as main economic activity. The mural wall is symbolizing the local archaeological heritage.
