Shield Purple, in chief an orb Or garnished Gules, in base an inescutcheon Argent, charged with an orbicular cross Gules. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and grey scroll with inscription in black capitals "FREGUESIA DE AMARES".
Meaning:
The shield colour purple is representing charity and religious dignity. The flag colour white is representing peace, silence, humbleness and defence of the children. The orb is an attribute of the Divine Saviour, the local patron saint. The inescutcheon with the Templars' Cross is alluding to Dom Gualdim Pais.
