Siekierczyn - rural commune, Luban County, Dolnośląskie Voivodship - former
German name: Geibsdorf.
"Statut" of 2003 says: "The Arms are related to the traditions of the
Commune and the main occupations of its inhabitants.
Saint Catherine (Katarzyna) of Alexandria is a special patroness of
this area and, since 1946, also a Patroness of the Rudzica Parish located
in the Commune.
Saint Catherine is usually pictured with the identifying her
attributes - the sword and the wheel, sometimes also with the palm.
In the Siekierczyn's Arms, the Saint is leaning on the spinning wheel
- symbolizing weaving, the traditional occupation of the local people.
(Saint Catherine is a Patroness of the weavers and fashion workers).
Two gold fish are representing another traditional occupation of the
inhabitants - the fisheries, which plays the important role in the local
economy.
Heraldic fish symbolizes the virtue of temperance, health, vigilance,
and also the Christianity, secrecy and silence.
Symbolism of the heraldic colors:
Gold - nobility, goodwill, reassurance, loftiness, faith, virtue, intelligence,
liberality, dignity, regard.
Silver (white) - humility, honesty, cleanliness, justice, wisdom, joy.
Blue - beauty, loftiness, approval, loyalty, good reputation, integrity.
Red - courage, valour, magnanimity, triumph, power.
The flag of the Commune is rectangular, composed of three horizontal
bands in the colors of red - yellow (gold) - blue from the top down. Ratio:
5:8."
