Coat of Arms

[COA of Midtre Gauldal] image by Tomislav Šipek, 29 January 2016

Blazon: I grønt tre sølv kors samlet i form av et gaffelkors. In English: Vert three crosses in a pall conjoined argent.
Approved by the royal resolution of 17 December 1982 after a drawing by Halvor Aune. [c2j87]
The Y-cross is said to represent Midtre Gauldal in several levels. There are several places having the Y-crossing of roads, like the joining of Gauldal and Soknedal vallies near Støren. There are important road and railroad point in Y form. The Budal church built in 1754 is among only a few Y-shaped churches in Norway.
