Blazon: I gull ein svevande omvend raud gaffelkross.
In English: Or a pall reversed couped gules.
Approved by the royal resolution of 19 February 1982 after a drawing by Bjørn
Casper Horgen after an idea by Magne Jostein Hoel. [c2j87]
mostly copied also at
Municipal website.
The design is inspired by the Rennebu church, the oldest Y-shaped churches built
in Norway in 1669. The shape is also symbolic, they say, for Berkåk as the
centre with arms stretching in valleys towards Soknedal, Oppdal and Meldal.
And the usual link to the
Trondelag municipal mayors explaining the arms at NRK interviews.
