Acht village

[Acht villageflag] Shipmate Flagchart : http://www.flagchart.net

Acht (Dutch for: eight, 8) is a village in the municipality of Eindhoven, Noord-Brabant province. It is a NW suburb of Eindhoven. Its flag can be found on this website.
The village existed already in 1303, and is possibly older (hence ACHT 700 PLUS)
The choice of colors:
red and white: for Eindhoven and Noord-Brabant.
red, white and blue: for the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Acht consists of two parts: Op Agt and Nij Agt. The name Acht originated probably from Latin Aqua = water, later it became "Agua", "Aagt".
Especially Nij Agt was marshy terrain, where several brick-factories thrived.
Color of water = blue.
Color of gras and agriculture: green.
And the + sign refers of course to the nose of Dutch former prime minister Mr. Dries van Agt.
