Steenderen will soon be merged into a new municipality, probably named
Bronckhorst
Population (1 Jan 2003): 5.086; area: 50,40 km²; settlements:
Steenderen (seat), Baak, Bronkhorst, Olburgen, Rha, Toldijk.
Steenderen is in east Gelderland, the 'Achterhoek', north of
Doesburg. Brickmaking (as reflected in the name - 'steen' = stone).
Used to be forest-area, now mainly africultural.
The flag was adopted 6 August 1954. Yellow and blue probably for 'Gelre-colors',
as in several other Gelderland civil flags. The things on the Coat of Arms are stones.

On 1 January 2004 the new municipality of Bronckhorst
(Gelderland) was formed out of the merger of Hengelo
(Gld), Hummelo en Keppel, Steenderen, Vorden
and Zelhem.
