No flag

I was informed that San Pedro de la Cueva does not use a municipal flag by the council.

Coat of Arms

The coat of arms was designed by Manuel García Madrid of Bámori (in Arivechi Municipality); unknown when, though likely in the '80s and possibly by request of the council.

The coat of arms has the form of a scroll, with its border in black and red. Above it are the keys to Heaven given to Saint Peter and a scroll above it reading "VIVIR Y MORIR CON HONOR" [Live And Die With Honor], referencing the martyrs of 1915. Below the shield is a wreath, with an eagle holding a ribbon reading the place's name. In the upper left of the main design, the monument to the martyrs killed by Francisco Villa in 1915 is depicted along with four tablets; in the center the St. Peter the Apostle church along with the sun reading the year 1810, when the first permanent settlers came, below a rainbow. The right depicts a plane flying over a mountain, along with a boat, water, and image of a fish relating to the local economy.

On the lower left, agricultural products are seen, including a tomato, agave, corn, bread; a harp is placed above. In the center of the lower area is the municipal building along with a deer in an outline. The right depicts a cattle and horse head. The background is in the colors of the national flag. Finally, dividing the two halves is a ribbon reading "FUNDADO POR JUAN DE MENDOZA, S.J., 1629".

Previous coat of arms

Nothing is known about this specific coat of arms. I believe it replaced the design by Manuel for some time, then the current one was reinstated by the council. The upper-left quadrant depicts a man on the lake fishing, the second a plane flying over a rock in the lake, the lower-left quadrant a horse head, plant, and grass, while the last depicts ore, agave, and tablets. The center depicts a cross. The border reads "MUNICIPIO DE SAN PEDRO DE LA CUEVA, SONORA"; at the lowest part "FUNDADO EN 1932". Two keys are placed at the top, likely referencing the keys to Heaven given to Saint Peter.
