No Flag

I was informed Etchojoa does not have a municipal flag.

Coat of Arms

The coat of arms of Etchojoa was adopted in 1985, during the administration of Municipal President Leonel Arguelles Méndez. It was designed by Prof. Reynaldo Pablo Navarro Vega, who won a contest for the design of a municipal coat of arms. The coat of arms is shaped as a rectangle, with the shape of a trapezoid at the bottom carrying the name "ETCHOJOA SONORA". In the center is a map of the original municipal boundaries, depicted by the sea it borders. A red fish is depicted by it. Within the municipal boundaries, two stalks of wheat are depicted, along with corn and tomatoes; these are the products of the agricultural region. Just under the map but extending into it is a tractor as a symbol of farming and a Yaqui Indian dancer, symbol of the culture here. At the top, an image of the Municipal Palace is depicted, with a cactus on each side of it. The year 1909 is read just above, the year it was declared its own municipality.

NOTE: The coat of arms of Etchojoa was modified in 1997, when the Commissary of Villa Juárez became its own municipality in December the past year. It is unclear what changed, as the map of the municipality on coats of arms used by the municipal government displays the original boundaries, before Benito Juárez separated from Etchojoa.
