Coat of Arms

image from Facebook

The coat of arms was adopted during the administration of 1998-2001 under Municipal President José Ángel González Soto, being given by Hipólito Arreola Chacón on 9 January 2000. Surrounding the shield to the left is a corn plant; to the right, a wheat plant as products of agriculture. Its border is in the National colors; reading at the top NAZAS. It reads the motto "TRABAJO HOSPITALIDAD LEALTAD" [Work, Hospitality, Loyalty]. To the upper-left, the Nazas River with an abundance of walnut trees by it. In its background, the sun marking the end of a culture (arrival of the Spaniards) and mountains. To the upper-right, the Jesuit Juan Agustín de Espinoza who founded a mission here. At the bottom, a fishing net (nasa) used by its first populators that remembers the origin of its name and an Indian hunter with bow and arrow.
