Coat of Arms

image from El Siglo de Durango

The coat of arms of Guadalupe Victoria was approved by the council of 1998-2001, being the idea of Municipal Chronicler Francisco Martínez Villarreal. However, it was modified in 2018, and is fairly different from the old version. Above the shield is a ribbon reading Guadalupe Victoria, Dgo. Below, a ribbon reading the year 1936, when it became a municipality. The border of the shield carries eleven green stars for its communities, the big one for the municipal seat. Above is the sun rising. In the upper section is a hare in front of the Gamón Mountains, remembering their abundance in the past. In the lower half; to the left, a tractor on ploughed fields by a river for agriculture. To the upper-right, a head of cattle for the cattle-raising industry. To the right, an open book and flaming torch for education. At the bottom, the Saint Mary of Guadalupe church for faith. In the center, over a cogwheel, a factory for industry.

Previous Coat of Arms

The old coat of arms had two corn plants at its sides for agriculture. At the bottom, three ribbons reading its name, "Guadalupe" "Victoria, Dgo." and "1921", when the community started to be settled. A plant sprouts from a ribbon, probably a tobacco plant. As for the inner section of the shield: At the top is the local Orthodox church, having two clouds at its sides raining remembering the importance of water. To the left side, a man ploughing his fields with cattle and to the right, with a tractor; this reminds us of the technological advances in agriculture. The lower designs are contained in a triangle. Above is a cow and its baby. Below, a cob of corn and bag of beans reading "100 Kg Frijol" on it.
