Baisogala (Radviliskis District) - field divided per pale
blue and red, over a white lozenge the arms of Baisogala: a
night-heron sitting on a horseshoe and holding a ring, and the
Eye of Providence. Flag proportions 1:2, fringe is silver, finial
is a golden night-heron with a ring, staff is blue. The charge of
arms granted in 1791 can be explained only partially: the Eye of
Providence represents the Four Years Parliament, but the meaning
of the night-heron with a horseshoe and a ring is not known yet.
Similar charges are known in the heraldry of noble families (the
closest one would be the arms of Slepowron), but any relation is
doubtful, because Baisogala was the property of the state since
its first mention in 1537 till 1794. None of the known steward
families (Skopp, Korsakas, Kosiecki, Poniatowski, Zaranka) used
such arms. Somebody relates the arms with the Komar family (which
bears the Slepowron arms), but that family bought the Baisogala
manor in 1830, i.e. long after the granting of arms to the town.
