Born: 1563
Died: 1645
Born in Yamashiro Province. Hosokawa Tadaoki was known as a distinguished general with both literary and military skills, and it is said that he had the skill to create his own helmet and banner. He served under Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and after his death, followed Tokugawa Ieyasu, and was a member of the Eastern Force in the Battle of Sekigahara.
The war banner has white background with nine black circles.
Nine circles represent nine stars. At that time, the stars were represented by "●" instead of "★" in Japan. The nine stars were used for fortune-telling, which is related to the Myoken beliefs.
