The town emblem and the flag were adopted on Jun 25th 1968 by Notice No 16 and No 17.
The dark green flag has a brown town emblem with a white fimbriation in the center.
The cap of wave symbolizes the sea, the center weight does the rise of the town
and the wings do a surge.
The dark green color stands for the town’s unlimited surge.
It represents the town’s exponential development and the resident’s improvement,
reconciliation and solidarity.
The flag proportion is 2: 3.
The diameter of the emblem is 7/10 height of the flag.

The town emblem was adopted on Jan 1st 1950 but there is no flag law.
The green flag has a white town emblem in the center.
The town emblem is a combination of a stylized kanji 中 Naka and
katakana シベツ Shibetsu in form of three fans.
The circle symbolizes the town people’s close cooperation and the center of Nemuro District.

The city emblem was adopted on Feb 13th 1925 but there is no flag law.
The blue flag has a white and a red two color city emblem in the center.
The city emblem is a combination of a stylized katakana ネ Ne and six (Mu) katakana ロ Ro.
The red color stands for a development to the bright future.
