Description

Regional Council Drom HaSharon (South Sharon) is situated in the centre of the country, unites 31 settlements with 21,000 inh. It was established in 1980. The Regional Council emblem combines three elements representing the three former Regional Councils which were merged into it:

  • Yarkon: the Yarkon River
  • Mif'alot Afek: Antipatris Fort
  • Ha'Sharon Ha'Tikhon: citrus tree

The letter I received from the Regional Council said nothing about the flag, but in the attached brochure there is a photo showing two flags, one on orange background and the other on green background.

The Regional Council was established by uniting three small former Regional Councils:

  • Yarkon, named after the river;
  • Mif'alot Afek (meaning Afek Plants), Afek, where Antipatris Fort and Yarkon springs are, was the start of the water pipeline plant Yarkon-Negev, hence the name, and
  • HaSharon HaTi'hon (Central (lit. Mediterranean) Sharon).

In my research of municipal flags legislation I was unable to find this emblem published in the official gazette (Rashumot).

The city hall is at Moshav Kfar Malal and there I could check the above information is correct. I also spotted two variants: orange flag with green emblem and green flag with orange emblem. (...) Instead of the full coloured emblem, on the flags there is only an outlined one.
