Technological University Dublin (Ollscoil Teicneolaíochta Bhaile Átha
Cliath), often shortened to TU Dublin, was established in 2019. It was
formed by the amalgamation of three existing institutes of technology in the
Dublin area:
- Dublin Institute of Technology (Institiúid
Teicneolaíochta Bhaile Átha Cliath), established in 1978 by grouping of
six previously independent colleges and operating as a single institution since
1992,
- Institute of Technology, Blanchardstown (Institiúid
Teicneolaíochta Baile Bhlainséir), established in 1999, and
- Institute
of Technology, Tallaght (Institiúid Teicneolaíochta, Tamhlacht),
established in 1992.
With eight other universities from as many other
countries of the European Union, it is a member of the European University of
Technology (EUt+).
