Overview

Hernád is a large village in Dabas district of Pest County, in Central Hungary.
Hernád was first mentioned in a document from 1388. At that time, the village was probably a populated noble settlement. During the Turkish period, Hernád was completely depopulated. Its territory was acquired by Nagykőrös and used as pasture. In the 19th century, the famous outlaw Imre Bogár Szabó ran riot around Hernád.
Until the middle of the 20th century, the area of the settlement belonged to the neighboring újhartyán.
