Harta is a large village in Kalocsa district of Bács-Kiskun county, located next to the Danube.
The name of the settlement is first mentioned in documents in 1187. Its name was written as Horta in 1193, and as Harta in 1289.
In 1187, Queen Euphrosyne, wife of King Géza II, gave part of Harta to the Crusaders of Székesfehérvár, while the other part of Harta was the castle estate of Fehérvár.
The settlement became uninhabited during the Tatar invasion.
Between 1722 and 1724, the owner of the settlement settled Germans from Württemberg, Hesse, the Palatinate and Speyer in the depopulated village.
At the beginning of the 20th century, it belonged to the Dunavecse district of Pest-Pilis-Solt-Kiskun county.

The coat of arms is in a green shield, with a silver stripe running across the shield in a wavy line in the middle.
In the upper left corner of the shield is the Sun with 24 rays in gold, on the right edge is a wheat ear in gold (5-5 grains of wheat and 5 ears of corn),
and in the middle is an anchor also in gold.
The green color of the coat of arms symbolizes the agricultural nature of the village. The gold wheat ear symbolizes the main characteristic of agriculture, the cultivation of cereals.
The silver stripe running across the coat of arms in a wavy line symbolizes the Danube, as the village lies on the banks of the Danube,
and the ancestors of the residents arrived in the current settlement on a raft in 1723. The golden anchor symbolizes that before World War I,
many watermills were established on the Harta section of the Danube, and that in later times, shipping was a significant source of income for the village's population.
It also signifies the prestige and esteem of the Harta sailors along the entire Danube.
The coat of arms was adopted by the same Local Government Decree.
