The symbols of Suhopolje are prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Općine Suhopolje, adopted on 4 August 1995 by the Municipality Asembly. The Decision abrogates the Decision prescribing the earlier symbols of Suhopolje. Decision Odluka o uporabi grba, zastave i naziva Općine Suhopolje, adopted on 29 April 2015 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 30 April 2015 in the Municipality official gazette Službeni glasnik Općine Suhopolje, No. 5, abrogated the original Decision, without changing anyhting in the description of the symbols.
The symbols are described in the Municipality Statutes Statut Općine Suhopolje, adopted on 18 February 2013 by the Municipality Asembly and published on 19 February 2013 in Službeni glasnik Općine Suhopolje, No. 2, repeating the former (consolidated) Statutes Statut Općine Suhopolje (pročišćeni tekst), adopted on 19 December 2011 by the Municipality Assembly and published on 28 December 2011 in Službeni glasnik Općine Suhopolje, No. 7.
The flag is described in Article 12 of the original Decision as follows:
The flag of the municipality of Suhopolje is rectangular in shape with the ratio of width to length in 1:2. The flag is yellow with the coat of arms of the municipality of Suhopolje in the center. The yellow colour symbolizes richness, fertility, and well-being.
This is repeated, almost word for word, in Article 5 of the Statutes and in Article 7 of the 2015 Decision.

The coat of arms is described in Article 10 of the original Decision as follows:
The coat of arms of the municipality of Suhopolje is, by the shield shape, rectangular in shape with the footer, the bottom end of the rectangle, semicircular. In the blue field of the shield of arms, on a green field is the depiction of a pavilion in the residence (summer house) of Count Janković - as a symbol of creation of the civil settlement core - the new Suhopolje. The depiction of the pavilion - the town (the entrance pavilion) is golden-yellow coloured.
This is repeated, almost word for word, in Aryicle 5 of the 2011 Statutes and in Article 6 of the 2015 Decision. The 2013 Statutes include an introductory claim before that paragraph: "The coat of arms of the municipality of Suhopolje is designed in compliance with the heraldic and vexillological rules and the guidelines set up by the Ministry of Administration and by the Croatian State Archives."
The coat of arms is "Azure on a mount vert a wall with gates topped with a roofed tower all or".
The charges represent the castle of the Janković family, who obtained it in the late 18th century. Around that time the name of the place was Terezovac, later returned to the original name, Suhopolje.

The first flag of Suhopolje was prescribed by Decision Odluka o grbu i zastavi Mjesta i Općine Suhopolje, adopted on 14 August 1994 and published in the Municipality official gazette Službeni vjesnik općine Suhopolje, No. 6.
The flag (photo) is horizontally divided white-red-white with a stripe along the hoist in inverted colours and with the coat of arms set in the centre. The colours of the flag were said to stand for equality and unity (white) and life strength, liberal spirit, love, joy and faith (red).
The coat of arms, "Vert a wall with gates topped with a roofed tower all or", is basically similar to the current one.
