Presentation of Šestanovac

The municipality of Šestanovac (2,685 inhabitants in 2001, 530 in the village of Šestanovac) is located some 50 km southeast of Split. The village is relatively young, formed in the 20th century on the crossing of the roads Split-Imotski and Brela (Adriatic coast)-Cista Provo towards inlands Bosnia and Herzegovina. After the modern highway was built through inland Dalmatia in the last few years, Šestanovac is an important exit towards the southern Dalmatian coast.

The flag of Šestanovac Municipality is a rectangular area divided into four equal parts, of which the upper left and lower right are red, and the upper right and lower left are white. In the middle of the flag is the coat of arms of Šestanovac Municipality.

The coat of arms of the Municipality of Šestanovac is shield-shaped with a stylized belfry on a hill below which is an intersection on a gray background. The upper half of the coat of arms is light blue and represents a clear sky. The upper part of the lower half of the coat of arms is painted gray - the color of the stone, and the lower part of the lower half is painted blue and represents the river Cetina.

This emblem was probably not approved by the central administration. It may depict the road crossing and access to the coast. The chapterhouse may represent the Our Lady of Fatima Chapel in the monastery of the Sisters Servants of Child Jesus.
