The municipality of Vyronas (61,308 inhabitants in 2011; 920 ha), is a suburbs located southeast of Athens. The town is named after George Gordon Byron (1788-1824), 6th Baron Byron, the famous English poet and writer. A national hero of Greece, Lord Byron travelled to fight against the Ottoman Empire in the Greek War of Independence. He died from a fever contracted while in Missolonghi.
The municipality was not changed with the 2011 local government reform.

The municipality of Vyronas has already been featured on the FOTW pages. Here is the new flag of the municipality.

The new municipal flag appears to be a variation on the previous flag, using a different portrait of Lord Byron centered on the same dark red field, removing the yellow inner border, and adding the municipality's name beneath the portrait.
