The Public and Commercial Services Union (PCS) is one of the largest trade
unions in the UK, with around 200,000 members. The union was founded in 1998 by
the merger of the Public Services, Tax and Commerce Union (which mostly
represented the executive grades of the Civil Service) and the Civil and Public
Services Association (mostly representing the clerical grades).
They are
organised throughout the civil service and government agencies, making it the
UK’s largest civil service trade union. They are also organised widely in the
private sector, usually in areas that have been privatised.
They campaign
for fair pay and conditions, decent pensions for all and equality in the
workplace and beyond.
