The company, founded in 1881 by Guillaume Seegmuller as Seegmuller & Cie., has been known as Armement Seegmuller S.A. since 1932. An important warehousing and transportation firm, Seegmuller once owned an
important part of Strasbourg's inland harbour which now has become a good
example of urban renewal (Cosmopolis / Médiathèque Malraux).
Seegmuller, having given up shipping a long
time ago (elsewhere a 2000 foreclosure is mentioned), is now specialized in
removals.

The house flag of Seegmuller, as shown in Flaggen auf dem Rhein (1952) [d9e52], is blue with a white five-pointed star, bearing a red initial "S" (no serifs) in the centre.
