SANARA certainly fared well after the First World War when thanks to the reparation measures Germany was obliged to comply with, its inland fleet was to number 51 vessels representing about 65,000 metric tonnes. In 1926 the firm was bought by SCAC (Société Commerciale d'Affrètements et de Combustibles). In 1969 Sanara joined CGNR, SFNR and Le Rhin to from CFNR, an important French inland shipping company.

The house flag of SANARA, as shown in Flaggen auf dem Rhein (1952) [d9e52], is a white pennant charge with a red shield bearing a white upright anchor near the hoist. Red and white are the traditional Alsatian colours.
