Alsace-Croisières was founded in 1965 by Gérard Schmitter, who owned a restaurant on the Rhine and rented a boat to organize river trips for his customers; in 1999, Schmitter was succeeded by his four children, so that the company remained a family business.
The house flag of Alsace-Croisières, shown on the company's website of the time, is a red pennant with two white four-pointed stars placed along the descending diagonal.
